śrāvastīnidānam. ekānte sthitā khalu sā devatā bhagavato ’ntika imāṃ gāthām abhāṣata —
At Śrāvastī. Standing to one side, a certain deity spoke this verse in the presence of the Bhagavān:
“Those for whom the dharmas are not understood are led into the doctrines of others.
They are asleep, not awake; it is time for them to wake up.”
“yebhyo dharmāḥ supratividitāḥ, paravādeṣu na nīyante.
te saṃbuddhāḥ samyagajñāḥ, caranti viṣame samam” iti.
“Those for whom the dharmas are well-understood are not led into the doctrines of others.
They are fully awakened, with right knowledge, and remain balanced in rough situations.”
