“किंस्विदैश्वर्यं लोके, किंस्विद्भाण्डानामुत्तमम्।
किंस्वित् शस्त्रमलं लोके, किंस्विल्लोकेऽर्बुदम्।
किंस्वित् हरन्तं वारयन्ति, हरन् पुनः कः प्रियः।
किंस्वित् पुनःपुनरायान्तम्, अभिनन्दन्ति पण्डिताः?” इति।
“kiṃ svid aiśvaryaṃ loke, kiṃ svid bhāṇḍānām uttamam.
kiṃ svit śastram alaṃ loke, kiṃ svil loke ’rbudam.
kiṃ svit harantaṃ vārayanti, haran punaḥ kaḥ priyaḥ.
kiṃ svit punaḥpunar āyāntam, abhinandanti paṇḍitāḥ?” iti.
“What is lordship in the world? What is the best of goods?
What is a filthy weapon in the world? What is a tumour in the world?
Whom do they prevent from taking? And who is dear (even) when they take?
Whom, coming again and again, do the wise welcome?”

“वश ऐश्वर्यं लोके, स्त्री भाण्डानामुत्तमा।
क्रोधः शस्त्रमलं लोके, चौरा लोकेऽर्बुदाः।
चौरं हरन्तं वारयन्ति, हरन् श्रमणः प्रियः।
श्रमणं पुनःपुनरायान्तम्, अभिनन्दन्ति पण्डिताः॥” इति।
“vaśa aiśvaryaṃ loke, strī bhāṇḍānām uttamā.
krodhaḥ śastramalaṃ loke, caurā loke ’rbudāḥ.
cauraṃ harantaṃ vārayanti, haran śramaṇaḥ priyaḥ.
śramaṇaṃ punaḥpunar āyāntam, abhinandanti paṇḍitāḥ.” iti.
“Control is lordship in the world; a woman is the best of goods.
Anger is a filthy weapon in the world; thieves are tumours in the world.
They prevent a thief from taking; a mendicant, (even) when taking (alms), is dear.
A mendicant, coming again and again, the wise welcome.”
