“किमर्थकामो न दद्यात्, किं मर्त्यो न परित्यजेत्।
किंस्विन्मुञ्चेत् कल्याणीं, पापकीं न च मोचयेत्?” इति।
“kim arthakāmo na dadyāt, kiṃ martyo na parityajet.
kiṃ svin muñcet kalyāṇīṃ, pāpakīṃ na ca mocayet?” iti.
“What should one desirous of welfare, not give away? What should a mortal not abandon?
What good thing should one release, and what evil thing should one not release?”

“आत्मानं न दद्यात् पुरुषः, आत्मानं न परित्यजेत्।
वाचं मुञ्चेत् कल्याणीं, पापकीं च न मोचयेत्॥” इति।
“ātmānaṃ na dadyāt puruṣaḥ, ātmānaṃ na parityajet.
vācaṃ muñcet kalyāṇīṃ, pāpakīṃ ca na mocayet.” iti.
“A person desiring welfare should not give away oneself; one should not abandon oneself.
One should release good speech, but not release evil speech.”
