“किंस्वित् बध्नाति पाथेयं, किंस्वित् भोगानामाशयः।
किंस्वित् नरं परिकर्षति, किंस्वित् लोके दुस्त्यजम्।
कस्मिन् बद्धाः पृथवः सत्त्वाः, पाशेन शकुनयो यथा?” इति।
“kiṃ svit badhnāti pātheyaṃ, kiṃ svit bhogānām āśayaḥ.
kiṃ svit naraṃ parikarṣati, kiṃ svit loke dustyajam.
kasmin baddhāḥ pṛthavaḥ sattvāḥ, pāśena śakunayo yathā?” iti.
“What binds up provisions for a journey? What is the basis of enjoyments?
What drags a person around? What in the world is hard to abandon?
To what are the many beings bound, like birds in a snare?”

“श्रद्धा बध्नाति पाथेयं, श्रीर्भोगानामाशयः।
इच्छा नरं परिकर्षति, इच्छा लोके दुस्त्यजा।
इच्छाबद्धाः पृथवः सत्त्वाः, पाशेन शकुनयो यथा॥” इति।
“śraddhā badhnāti pātheyaṃ, śrīr bhogānām āśayaḥ.
icchā naraṃ parikarṣati, icchā loke dustyajā.
icchābaddhāḥ pṛthavaḥ sattvāḥ, pāśena śakunayo yathā.” iti.
“Faith binds up provisions for a journey; fortune is the basis of enjoyments.
Desire drags a person around; desire in the world is hard to abandon.
To desire the many beings are bound, like birds in a snare.”
